Applicable to CivilStorm/StormCAD/OpenRoads Drainage.
In previous drainage softwares, like InRoads Storm and Sanitary, The invert of the structure was not something that was manually input like it is in CivilStorm/StormCAD. Instead the structure invert was based on the outgoing or lowest pipe invert and the specified sump or depth below pipe invert.
As I go through drainage design, I always uncheck the "set pipe invert to start/stop node" property because that is easier and makes more intuitive sense when inputting information into the model. To make my storm profiles look nice, i end up having to go back to all the catch basin and manhole nodes, determine the outgoing invert elevation copy/paste it into the structure invert property. And if a sump needs to be shown on the profile, do the math to determine the correct invert elevation of the structures sump. It would be nice and easier to have an option that lets us "set structure invert to outgoing pipe" and/or add a "sump depth" to the structure.
