Automatically keep split pipe segments in the original pipe’s Selection Sets

When a pipe that belongs to one or more Selection Sets is split, the resulting pipe segments do not automatically remain in those Selection Sets.

For example, if a pipe belongs to “DMA 01” and “Calibration Area”, splitting it into two pipes should automatically add both resulting pipes to those same Selection Sets.

Currently, the user must remember to manually add the new pipe segments back to every Selection Set. This is easy to overlook, especially in large models, and can silently leave Selection Sets incomplete.

Proposed behavior

When a pipe is split:

  • all resulting pipe segments inherit all Selection Sets of the original pipe;

  • the junction, valve, hydrant, or other element used to split the pipe does not inherit those Selection Sets automatically;

  • the user can still change the memberships afterward normally.

This would preserve Selection Set consistency after topology edits, reduce manual work, and prevent accidental omissions that may affect analyses and other workflows based on Selection Sets.
