I'm using WaterCAD and WaterGEMS for modeling and every time I add a new feature that is not on an already existing pipe, I need to set the elevation manually. For this I use TRex to set the elevation based on an ESRI contours shapefile from USGS. This adds more time to an already time consuming task. It would be great if there were a way to keep your contour shapefile (or other contour data source) in your model so that whenever you add a new element its elevation is set automatically.

An idea like this can be helpful in cases where new elements are added at different times throughout the modeling process. This idea would help any WaterCAD or WaterGEMS user who has to add multiple new elements to a model at different times (i.e. all new elements are not added in one go) and these elevations are based on a contour file. Overall this idea would help streamline the modeling process and save time.
